In this class we will learn how to write poetry and the different forms that poetry takes. We will focus on a different poetic form each week, applying different techniques to develop our ideas. This class is taught in English.
Students will improve their writing skills by learning about sentence structure, syllables, similes, and sibilance (to name a few!). They will also learn about different poetic forms.
Students can engage in an optional homework project where they can gather ideas for poems outside of class.
All students need is a pen, paper, and a willingness to share.
The learner will be assessed through an informal assessment of what might help them develop their confidence, style and voice. All positive feedback is given individually and all constructive feedback is given to the group as tips for next time.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Let's go on an adventure!
