I am an avid National Parks adventurer, though I wasn't always. My love for the Parks has only grown as I've learned more about them. The depth of learning that our Parks offer make Park-love the perfect lifelong hobby! In this four week class, it is my goal to inspire or awaken the Park-love in my learners. We will have video tours, demonstrations, hands-on activities, and fun interactions all surrounding our nation's first national park: Yellowstone! The first class will cover location and...
The most important learning objective of this course is learning to love and appreciate Yellowstone National Park. Students will understand what "thermal features" are. They will know of the complicated history and adaptions of bison. They will appreciate the human history. Finally, they will learn about the delicate and complicated food webs of Yellowstone.
I am a certified teacher with a doctorate of jurisprudence and a masters of educational psychology specializing in Creativity & Cognition. Creative teaching and learning is my passion. I am a state-certified educator for all social studies topics from elementary school through high school. I have taught several A.P. social studies classes. I have also served as a science and math specialist, and I have spent many years teaching secondary English. I address all human history from a global perspective that respects all peoples' backgrounds. I have extensive and diverse experience in child advocacy, the family court system, and TBRI practices. In my spare time I run a foundation created to support veterans and educators in our community. I spent several years homeschooling my own children and working with a co-op. After 20 years as a certified educator, I am excited to lean into my own creativity and passion for our National Park System. It is my hope that I can inspire all learners to find wonder, peace, and hope through the lessons of our federal lands.
