Description
Class Experience
This creative, theater/theatre camp is great for total beginners or experienced performers!! as Mrs. T quickly assesses learners' levels and works to challenge and develop each learner during the week. Detailed notes are also provided after every class to support each learner's learning further. In this week-long theater/theatre camp learners will learn how to create their own completely original (never before seen) characters and how to put them into their own mini-performance piece. On...
This class is taught in English.
Whilst working on these drama techniques we will also build the transferable skills of: Focus, Attention to detail, Coordination, Opening up our imaginations, Confidence building and presentation skills, There will also be lots of opportunities to share these newly developing skills throughout the class, and receive encouraging feedback from myself, Mrs. T, as your teacher/instructor, and your fellow classmates. *On the completion of this class, parents can contact me to request a personalised, printable certificate. Although this isn’t a formal qualification, it can look very good on a wall or in an achievement folder, but can also be useful to show to Performing Arts settings, for auditions, or to help learners create an actor’s resume.
I am a fully qualified teacher (BAPA, PGCE) with 16+ years of experience teaching Drama (and some Music, PSHCE, and English) to 11 to 15 years olds and Performing Arts to 16 to 18 year olds in bricks and mortar schools, where I currently still teach part-time, including running small group and 1:1 confidence building workshops. I also have many years of experience leading community workshop schemes (like create a play in a week) and local drama groups for ages 4 to 16. As a professional actress, I've performed to children from ages 2-14 in theatres, arts centres, social clubs, historical properties, nurseries, and schools. Playing roles such as the Gingerbread man and a tortoise, to a wartime headmistress and Queen Elizabeth the first! With lots of Q & A and interactive workshops along the way. I then branched into presenting (live, events, radio, some TV, and for holiday companies across Europe) including some Voiceover work. I currently create and present drama and presenter tuition videos and have a regular podcast. I have produced and directed many productions (musicals and plays) as well, including some I have written myself.
Homework is very important in order to get the most from this week-long camp. Learners will need to work on their character between sessions, and later in the week, their solo performance material, in order to prepare for the Friday showcase. Wednesday’s session also involves learners rehearsing on their own with no live class. After the camp learners will gain some useful starting points and ideas of how to be able to go away and create more of their own original characters. These can then be developed to create mini live/film performances to show family and friends, and for talent show spots if they wish.
1 hour 40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
This is a practical drama class so please make sure your learner is dressed in comfortable clothing they can move about in, has space to work in, and has a drink nearby, should they need it.
