Find Friends and Make Friends
Is your child struggling to make friends at school? Does your child have trouble identifying "real" friends? This class will help your child develop ways to find kids who fit with them rather than trying to fit in with kids who don't.

1 hour per week. No "homework". Activities to reinforce what was discussed will be made available to the learners for use after class.Class Experience
In this course, I will partner with your learner to develop a personalized approach for addressing their anxieties and insecurities about being excluded. We will discuss how to identify someone with the characteristics of a good friend and touch on different ways to find children with those characteristics. This course focuses mostly on kids who go to school but there are also suggestions that will help all kids. By the end of this introductory course, learners will have five handy tools they can use while at school or in other socially awkward situations. Your learner will be encouraged to appreciate the gifts they have been given and will practice how to make the most of those gifts when interacting with others. Learners will also explore finding the similarities between themselves and others. During the class, we will primarily use discussions to discover why your child feels like they don't fit. We will analyze common situations (on the school playground; in the lunchroom, in the classroom) and how to approach those situations to achieve the best result. Note: [This class requires a significant amount of verbal interaction between your child and the teacher.] Enrollment is limited to allow me time to provide sufficient attention to each learner. [***Transfers will not be made within 24 hours of the class start time. No exceptions.***]

Parental Guidance
Parents, would you be able to ensure your child's microphone is set up appropriately? It is extremely frustrating for the kids when I have to repeatedly ask them to speak louder. In addition, it is fine for you to be in the room; however, would you be able to refrain from talking to your child during class. It is distracting when I am trying to have a discussion with them or give them instructions. If there is a particular conflict that you would like me to address, please send me a message one day prior to the class. Thanks, in advance, for your help!
NOTES:
1) Parents always ask if my classes are appropriate for their children. My answer is that your child should have an opportunity to practice his or her social skills and this is a safe place to do that. Their social skills will not improve if they are not given opportunities to use them.
2) This class WILL take place if there is only one learner.
3) [***Transfers will not be made within 24 hours of the class start time. No exceptions.***]
