Class Experience

In this one-on-one session, I will teach financial literacy concepts and can tailor the topics to your learner. Possible topics include personal finance, budgeting, investments, how businesses operate, income statements and more.

𝗘𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗼𝘄, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿'𝘀 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘀.

-Personal/Family Budget
In this session, we will talk about income, types of expenses, mortgages, and taxes. We will create a mock family budget.

-Personal Borrowing and Saving
In this session we will explore different methods of borrowing and savings. This session will give overviews of bank accounts, retirement accounts, investments, credit cards, and loans.

-Business Overview
In this session we will explore the different type of businesses—retail vs. service; online vs. brick and mortar. We will discuss types of transactions and the relationships between employers, employees, and consumers. We can also discuss marketing and targeting consumers.

Business Financials
In this session, we will learn about income statements. Terms covered will include: revenue, profit, margin, assets and liabilities. We will discuss variable vs. fixed costs, cost of goods sold, and overhead costs.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝘆 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲?
My classes will include slides to introduce concepts. However, my private classes are discussion based, so learners have a lot of opportunities for participation. I find that students understand concepts best when they're given the opportunity to participate in class, contribute and ask questions. We'll relate examples to student's lives, experiences and potential future careers. If a student feels more comfortable leaving their camera off, they are able to do that (once I visually verify them, per Outschool's policy). See the teacher experience section for my background.

𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸
After each class, I provide a summary to parents of what we went over in class.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲s?
I am an American teacher, but students from all countries are welcome and often attend. I try to use examples that reflect the students that are in the current class.
