US Grade 9 - 12
The world is changing FAST and how we save, spend and even what money is changes almost daily. In this ongoing class we will cover the basics and learner questions about Consumer Skills, Smart Money Habits, Budgeting, Checking and Savings Accounts, Credit and Debt Fundamentals, Return on Investment in Education, Financial Aid, Career Exploration, Starting Employment, Fundamentals of Insurance, Identity Theft, Peer-to-Peer Payment Systems, and Cryptocurrency. Learners will access a complimentary EVERFI® account provided by Blackbaud® to complete an interactive assessment that prepares them for the upcoming class topic. Classes will kick off with a scenario or story, presented through an engaging mix of games, quizzes, and puzzles related to the topic. The aim is to create a highly interactive, hands-on, and digital learning experience. Participants will engage in an interactive online assessment, either solo or in breakout groups, followed by a collective recap involving discussion questions or a class-wide challenge. My teaching approach is discussion-centric and interactive, yet I remain considerate of individual learning preferences and styles. Throughout the course, I'll share personal experiences dealing with data breaches, federal examiners, and class action attorneys, alongside insights from collaborations with business partners such as Square Cash App, Robinhood, Revolut, and Greenlight.
