Class Experience

US Grade 9 - 12
Beginner Level
During this class, students will learn an overview of financial literacy concepts and how they apply to life. In this session, we will discuss money mindsets and students will be motivated to take personal responsibility for their own financial futures.

We will discuss the cost of living, financial goal-setting, budgeting and income & taxes. We will learn about loans, interest rates and how credit works. We will also discuss emotional vs. rational spending, debt and the importance of saving. The emphasis is on practical, proven habits of financial wellness, including discussion of delayed gratification, spending restraint and starting early to benefit long-term financial wellness.

This is a presentation-style class with slides, with space allotted for questions and discussion. Unfortunately for us parents, financial literacy takes more than one hour to learn. This class is intended as an introduction to concepts taught more thoroughly in the financial success series, Financial Literacy 8-Class Series: Understanding Life’s Essential Money Matters.
