Description
Class Experience
In this curriculum, students are introduced to basic personal finance and economic concepts, such as scarcity, choice, goods, services, saving, spending, and banks. They explore these concepts through popular children’s literature to reinforce reading fluency. In addition to reading integration, all lessons incorporate activities to enhance school-readiness skills, such as categorizing objects, counting, and letter recognition.
Mrs. Adamson, founder of Apples2Zippers is a veteran licensed / certified educator with over 20 years experience in the classroom, a travel agent, an entrepreneur, and has a passion for teaching and learning. She currently holds certifications in Business Education, Family and Consumer Sciences, Special Education and TEFL/TESL/TESOL. Degrees: BA degree in Radiology Health Management, MSE in Business Education & Technology, MSE Special Education - Instructional Specialist and Ed.S. in Education Leadership and a graduate of the Arkansas Career and Technical Leadership Academy, which focuses on careers that are categorized as "High Wage, High Skill and High Demand." - college readiness. Mrs. Adamson has attended an extensive teacher education workshop at The New York Stock Exchange - Teacher Education Program on Wall St. at the New York Stock Exchange, New York, NY.
Lesson handout and worksheets Crayons / Markers 4 Envelopes Pen / Pencil Additional supplies may be needed, teacher will communicate with the students and parents prior to class.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Students will receive fun engaging handouts and activities sheets provide by the United States Federal Reserve before the class begins, a parent will need to assist the students to make they have them printed out. Students will need to print out the worksheets, in order to follow along with the lesson during class. Prior Knowledge: Students should be able to identify money in coin and paper forms and their value.
Books, worksheets and materials are provided by United States Federal Reserve to certified teachers.
