Description

Class Experience

Students will study a different director, writer, or writer/director each month. Students will watch the movie before class starts and then the class itself will be a discussion of the movie. Students need to think beyond liking or disliking the movie. Worksheets will be provided to the students when they sign up to help them organize their thoughts as they watch the movie and after. 

We'll look at the decisions the filmmaker made to make the movie.

Students will study filmmakers to increase their knowledge of films.

Student must watch the movie before class.

Students will need to rent and/or stream movies before the class. All movies should be available to rent on Amazon Prime, Vudu, and/or iTunes, and may be available on membership sites like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Showtime, HBO, Disney+, etc.

55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.

Some movies will be PG-13 or R rated. Movies may contain foul language, cinematic violence, adult themes, and nudity. All ratings are listed in the description.

We will use Julie Faulkner's Movie Analysis Worksheets to help organize our thoughts and understanding.
