Class Experience

US Grade 9 - 12
Advanced Level
This class is for experienced acting students. We will work on character development by creating our own unique characters, writing our own scripts, and auditioning for scenes from the worlds of favorite films or television shows that the class will vote on. This advanced sections will be more focused on acting techniques, creating backstories for other peoples characters, scene memorization, auditioning and casting - assigned roles, and overall play/film production.

Students will either choose their own scenes to work on individually, or make suggestions for film scripts to pull scenes from, and the class will vote on which scene we will work on as a group. For our writing projects, students will collaboratively compile a list of story ideas that we will randomly choose from each week.

Class format:
Welcome and introductions
Technique discussion
Blocking and setting up the scene
Rehearsals and performance
Screenwriting collaboration
Improv games

***Students are required to use a Gmail account to log-in to our scene writing projects

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
Growing up as the daughter of a professional film critic in Los Angeles I always knew that I wanted to be an actor. I began stage acting in elementary school, studied for many years through various workshops, college courses, private lessons and coaching, and classically trained as a Shakespearean player. My professional film career began in high school when I appeared on several television shows and movies. I've personally worked with, and trained with, some of the best actors in Hollywood. I continued working as an actor until becoming a mother when I made the decision to stay home to raise my 3 kids, who are all now adults and working artists. I've been teaching all aspects of the performing arts for 30 years. I hold a BA in Media & Film Studies with a minor in Theater Arts.
