Description
Class Experience
Students will learn more advanced acting techniques, screenwriting skills, and generally improve their understanding of theater/film performance from auditioning to play/film production.
Growing up as the daughter of a professional film critic in Los Angeles I always knew that I wanted to be an actor. I began stage acting in elementary school, studied for many years through various workshops, college courses, private lessons and coaching, and classically trained as a Shakespearean player. My professional film career began in high school when I appeared on several television shows and movies. I've personally worked with, and trained with, some of the best actors in Hollywood. I continued working as an actor until becoming a mother when I made the decision to stay home to raise my 3 kids, who are all now adults and working artists. I've been teaching all aspects of the performing arts for 30 years. I hold a BA in Media & Film Studies with a minor in Theater Arts.
Homework: Scene study - Memorizing lines Observation - watching films and TV outside of class Writing - students will create characters and write original scenes together on a collaborative Google Doc Costuming and make-up prep

Scenes may be pulled from pop-culture including, but not limited to, dystopian films and stories about teenagers that may include light swearing and violent or sexual themes. ALL scenes will be discussed in class in advance, and learners are never required to participate in any scene work or dialogue they are personally uncomfortable with.
