Whether the students are going back to their physical school or virtual schooling at home, these classes will be their “Back-to-School Survival Guide” using the Filipino (Tagalog) language. The students will be engaged with our interactions as we focus on a certain topic each day: On Day 1, we will introduce ourselves, check on how we are feeling, and learn new vocabulary words (people, places and things) related to school. On Day 2, we will learn a new set of school terms and counting from 1 to 10. On Day 3, we will learn some common actions we hear at school, as well as find out the “school things” we may find inside our backpacks. On Day 4, we will find out the names of more school supplies and learn the Days of the Week. On Day 5, we will focus on the months of the year. On Day 6, we will have a fun Assessment of everything we learned in this Back-to-School course through fun games and activities. The students will be guided with proper pronunciation and intonation. They will also be engaged by the colorful slides, pictures and games. There is no need for prior knowledge of Filipino. By the end of each day, and with the Teacher’s encouragement for student participation, the students are expected to follow the teacher’s instruction on how to quickly apply the lesson within their home. Please note that the Teacher will be calling the children by name with lots of gentleness and encouragement to repeat and practice the Filipino words and phrases throughout each class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a native Filipino speaker. I was born and raised in Manila, Philippines and grew up up multi-lingual – learning and speaking English, Filipino (Tagalog), and some Spanish. Learning a World Language can be fun when it is introduced in a creative way. I find joy in learning languages and even learned to say "Hello" in various languages through meeting friends & colleagues while previously working for the United Nations Headquarters in New York. Besides being a TESOL (Teaching English as a Second Official Language) Certified ESL Teacher, I can also amuse all those who hear me speak “P” language and “Horse” language.
