The class will begin with an introduction of myself and fellow students and inquire the artistic goals of each student. We will practice drawing different poses with different time limitations. This class focuses on form, negative and positive space, and gestural lines. I am a hands on instructor and encourage discussion so that all students gain the necessary knowledge to pursue their artistic endeavors beyond the classroom. Students will develop their drawing skills pertaining to the human form. They will have a better understanding of shape, human form, and gestures.
Charcoal or graphite pencils, blending tool(Q-tip, blending stub, napkin, paint brush), strathmore newsprint paper or sketch paper, kneaded eraser or plain eraser, ruler.
2 hours per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Drawing the human form includes some nudity. I will not include “private parts” but breast and buttocks are imperative to learning the human form.
