Class Experience

In this class you will learn how to create concept art for the fantasy genre.

Concept art is a form of illustration that is used to convey ideas for videos games, movies, and much more. Concept art is so much more than just creating cool drawings (although we will do that too!). Concept art is about visually communicating your ideas with clarity, telling a story, and problem solving for narrative or gameplay. You will learn how to take the ideas in your head and put them on paper. We will be creating sketches, and bringing your drawings to life with shading and coloring materials.

In this class, we will draw...
βœ… Fantasy characters such as knights, sorcerers, orcs etc...
βœ… Fantastical beasts such as dragons, centaurs, rock giants etc...
βœ… Futuristic designs such as space knights, robots, space ships etc...

- Class Format -
This weekly on-going class will alternate between tutorial-based learning and project-based learning.

πŸ”° Tutorial-Based Learning: We will do step-by-step demonstrations on how to draw a specific topic such as armor, weapons, anatomy, shading etc... We will learning a specific drawing style or art technique that will push a student outside their comfort zone, advancing their art abilities.

πŸ”° Project-Based Learning: We will also do art challenges where each student will create a unique design based on a certain prompt. This will be a game-show based format where students will divide up into teams and create their characters. Examples of prompts may include: Humans vs Orcs, Robots vs Monsters, Magic Challenge: Fire vs Ice etc... Students will receive 1-on-1 attention as I guide them through creating their unique design.

Each class with conclude with a show and tell, where each student can talk about their character design and its special attributes.

⚠️ Intermediate/ Advanced Level Class⚠️
This is one of my most advanced classes. Students need to demonstrate a basic grasp of figure drawing and be willing to learn new and advanced art techniques to further their drawing abilities. Maturity and a positive attitude is required for this class.

πŸ”° If your learner is interested in beginner level classes, please refer to my website to learn more fundamental art techniques.

Learning Goals
The learning goal of this class is for kids to learn how to come up with a narrative, and bring their idea and design to life through sketching and drawing. They will be learning how to draw anatomy, armor, and weapons. But most importantly, they will be learning to exercise their creativity and learning how to dream and breathe life into their ideas.
