US Grade 3 - 5
In this class the students will learn about similes, metaphors, and personification. They will begin by briefly discussing each type of figurative language and reading some examples of each one. Then they will read and listen to Twas the Night Before Christmas by Clement C. More. The students will look for examples of each type of figurative language as we read. The students will explain what each example means. We will discuss how figurative language works in the poem. If time permits, the students will practice making their own sentences with figurative language. Some pictures will be provided if they need some ideas.
