In this interactive, one-time English class, your learner will dive into figurative language, close reading, and critical thinking through the lens of Elizabeth Acevedo’s powerful poem "Hair." Perfect for teens prepping for AP Literature and AP Language, this session teaches them how to identify and explain figurative language in text—an essential skill for both exams and college-level reading.

What We’ll Do:

*Close Reading & Discussion: We’ll analyze "Hair" together, focusing on how metaphors and imagery bring out themes of cultural identity.

*Writing & Feedback: Your learner will practice writing about figurative language, with live, personalized feedback to boost their confidence.

*Fun, Engaging Atmosphere: With group discussions, relatable examples, and a welcoming environment, students will feel comfortable exploring big ideas in a fun way!

Pre-Requisites
Learners don't need to be enrolled in AP Literature or AP Language to enroll in this course. While the skills are catered to AP exams, they are 100% helpful for all learners in high school and college bound English students.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
