Description

Class Experience

In this 6-week course, students will build their English Language Art skills by studying figurative language through literature, writing, games, and art.   One type of figurative language will be taught each week.  We will define it, view examples, and analyze it in context. Students will not only learn how an author uses figurative language in their writing, but also how they can integrate it into their writing to produce rich, creative content.

Students will improve their understanding of some types of figurative language including: metaphor, hyperbole, simile, onomatopoeia, personification, and idiom.

Homework will only consist of finishing up any assignments that they did not finish in class. They can submit it within the week for feedback.

Supply List
- pencil and/or pen
- crayon and/or pencil colors

Learner progress is assessed by the final activity that accompanies the day's lesson.

45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
