1 live meeting
25 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
We will begin class by talking about some fears that we have. Then we will read the book “Pete the Cat: Pete at the Beach”. There will be questions and discussion throughout the reading to promote comprehension and allow the learners to make text-to-self connections. After the story, we will discuss why Pete was scared, what he did to overcome his fear, and how he felt at the end. Then, we will brainstorm ideas of what to do when we are scared and how we could overcome some of the fears that were mentioned at the beginning of class. Learners will then be encouraged to draw a picture of themself overcoming their fear. If time allows, learners will be able to share their pictures with the class! Students should come to class with an idea of a fear that they currently have or one that they once had and overcame. They will also need a piece of paper and something to draw with (markers, crayons, or colored pencils). Before class begins, please make sure your learner knows how to unmute themself and turn their camera on so we can see and hear them throughout the class! Thank you!
Learning Goals
Students will identify fears and discuss how to overcome them, after listening to a related story.
