Class Experience
Humans aren't the only ones fighting wars. We often ear of dogs in war, but you would be shocked at some of the other animals that become soldiers! Bears, sea lions, slugs, pigs, cats, and more. Get ready for the most interesting history course of your life. Students will learn how animals are involved in war. They will demonstrate their knowledge each week by participating in a discussion by answering questions and bring new information to the course.
I have been in education for the past couple years. I am licensed in Utah. I have worked with students from kindergarten to college seniors in a variety of subjects.
This is a FLEX class, so weekly work will be conducted at the students pace. They will be expected to conduct research on their own.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Students will receive feedback on their final project.
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
While war is always a controversial topic, I will present each topic in a neutral manner. Questions of ethics will arise and students will give their opinions on the morality of using animals in war. I will not assert my own opinions on them. Students will be asked follow up questions and will be reminded to be civil and understanding in their comments. Students will not need a Padlet account. They will exchange comments. They will be able to post images, videos, or links to information they found on the related topic.
