Fifth Grade Waldorf-Inspired Full Curriculum: Language Arts, Math, Science, Art
What's included
144 live meetings
144 in-class hoursHomework
2-4 hours per week. Each block includes optional homework assignments, set at the beginning of the block, designed to help students master concepts and deepen their understanding. Although not required, we recommend completing the homework for the best learning experience. If you submit completed homework, your teacher will provide feedback. The homework assignments also include suggested wet-on-wet painting activities.Assessment
We believe in continuous feedback. Instead of focusing solely on end-of-unit tests, we use ongoing formative assessments. These could be interactive activities, short responses, or even lively discussions. This approach allows us to celebrate progress, catch misunderstandings early on, and adjust our teaching to support each student's individual learning journey.Class Experience
US Grade 5
Embark on a transformative fifth-grade adventure! Our program blends the enriching principles of Waldorf education with Common Core standards. Through in-depth exploration, focused projects, and artistic expression, your child will sharpen their reading, writing, mathematical reasoning, and scientific inquiry skills, expanding their knowledge of the world and growing as a thinker, problem-solver, and creator. ∙ Deepen Understanding Through Block Learning ∙ Our program utilizes a unique approach called block-based learning. Instead of briefly touching on many subjects each day, students immerse themselves in a single theme for 2-4 weeks at a time. This focused exploration fosters deep understanding, sparks connections across subjects, and empowers learners to achieve mastery. ∙ What Will Be Taught? ∙ ⦿ Language Arts: Language arts learning is woven into every block, enriching your child's communication and literacy skills across all subjects. Learners will build skills in grammar, writing, and punctuation. Explore different writing styles, analyze texts, and create persuasive and descriptive pieces. ⦿ History: Journey through time, exploring the civilizations of Ancient India, Persia, Egypt, and Greece. Explore historical accounts to understand their cultures, philosophies, and legacies. ⦿ Math: Master decimals, fractions, complex problem-solving, metric measurements, and even unlock the secrets of the Pythagorean Theorem. ⦿ Science: Discover the diverse world of plants, from simple fungi to vibrant flowers. Investigate plant structures, adaptations, and the vital role of pollination within our world. ⦿ Creative Expression: Experiment with drawing and other art forms, exploring elements of design, perspective, and the rich history of artistic traditions. Refer to the syllabus below for a detailed lesson breakdown for each block. Late enrollment is possible. Our block-based approach allows new students to dive deeply into a specific topic. Please send us a message by using the ‘Ask a Question’ button to discuss the current block and how to get started! NB: Our curriculum explores history and cultures from around the world. We carefully select a range of resources to provide balanced perspectives and promote critical thinking about different viewpoints.
