I have a Master's Degree in Education and I am certified to teach K-8 grades. I have taught math for 28 of my 29 years of teaching, specifically fourth and fifth-grade mathematics. I am a lifelong learner and find myself taking workshops and courses regularly. Sometimes, students put up a mental wall as soon as math is mentioned. I try to provide math classes where students feel safe in asking questions, taking risks, and making mistakes. I want students to reflect and learn from their mistakes instead of focusing on incorrect answers. This is the first step in developing a greater and more meaningful understanding of the process, which in turn develops confidence.
