Hey Learners! In this ongoing class, we will review the basics of fractions and dive into fifth grade standards of Fractions. I am a certified fourth grade teacher with an endorsement in Common Core Math, so I have a great understanding on what the public school system wants out of students. Students will improve their understanding of fractions that is introduced in third and fourth grade. These skills include understanding unit fractions, equivalent fractions, and generating equivalent fractions using greatest common denominator, multiplication, and division. We will then move into the fifth grade standards of adding and subtracting fractions with like and unlike denominators. We will end our 6 weeks with multiplying and dividing fractions. There will be optional homework added to the classroom each week. This is not mandatory but is a great help to review content taught in the previous lesson and in the upcoming lesson.
Worksheets for additional practice will be provided each week to the classroom. These are not mandatory.
Students will receive informal assessments throughout the lessons. Progress reports can be given as requested
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
