Class experience
Multiplication is a key transitional skill for elementary math. It uses the knowledge students build in primary grades and will be utilized for most of their math work from here on out. However, traditional multiplication strategies of memorization leave inquisitive learners unsatisfied by neglecting their curiousity and often leave exceptional learners without appropriate support. In this class, we will use a "giant" (10 by 10) popit to learn how to model our multiplication facts from 0-10....
This class is taught in English.
Students will learn strategies using area models, skip counting, and pattern recognition to solve multiplication problems with numbers beteween 0 and 10. Students will feel confident with multiplication. Students will connect multiplication to addition and subtraction. Students will develop a foudnational understanding of area.
Learners will need a 10 by 10 pop bubble fidget (approximately 10-12$ from large online retailers), a whiteboard and markers, printables provided by the teacher.
