Class Experience
Learn a fiddle tune the traditional way - by ear! This course is perfect for violin and viola players with at least a year of playing experience. Classical students will explore a new genre of playing. Fiddle students will pick up a new tune. Using the tune teach format, students will practice their listening skills. We'll also discuss the format of traditional fiddle tunes and learn some music theory. Students will learn some of the history of each tune. Every session will feature a...
Students will learn to play a traditional fiddle tune on their violin or viola. Students will improve their listening and ear training skills and learn rote playing (playing by ear.) Students will learn the structure and history of the featured fiddle tune.
Over 10 years of fiddle instruction and performance.
Students will need a violin or viola and bow in working condition. (In tune prior tot he session, bow rosined, set up to play.) Because this class focuses on playing by ear, reference sheet music will be made available after each session. Students can also refer back to the session recording to continue practicing the tune.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will receive live teacher feedback and encouragement during the session.
