In this self-paced 8-week class, young writers will build characters, design settings, plan a plot, and write their own short story step by step—with videos, worksheets, and teacher support. Great for beginners or reluctant writers!

Ever wanted to write your own story? Each week in this class, you’ll learn how to create cool characters, describe exciting places, and write a real short story. You’ll finish with a story you're proud of—and maybe even want to share!

Students watch a short video to learn the basics of a character, setting, and plot, including definitions and examples.

 Students complete a worksheet that guides learned in reflecting on character, setting, and plot with structured sentence starters.

Using a 12-question brainstorm sheet, students create their story's main character with details about personality, goals, and challenges.
