Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 7
In this highly interactive writing class designed for young writers we will learn and develop exceptional writing skills as well as hone our creative mind.

Each week a brief lesson will help students learn techniques to write the best possible stories and characters - from impossible lands to dragons to princesses to nasty hobgoblins!

After our lesson, students are encouraged to share what they have been working on, whether it is a short story, poem, graphic novel or related project. As a group we will encourage each writer, provide feedback and continually improve our writing and creative thinking skills.

At the end of our lesson, learners will then be prompted to write a short piece as instructed. The writing prompt is to help direct creative thinking that can be used in their own personal stories. The short writing piece will then be shared in the upcoming week, if the student wishes.

For those learners who are shy and reluctant to share, the instructor is available for private messaging, tutoring and general help through the Outschool's classroom messaging service.

The classroom will be relaxed and fun. Learners only need to bring pen, paper, an open mind and their pet dragons. (Invisible dragons do not count!)

Each student, along with the instructor will help each other develop their story idea and interactive discussion and direction will be provided in a group setting.

Hello Animal Lovers and Artists!

I am a published author of five books including non-fiction, fiction and two children's books.

I am also an animal lover who has cared for and rehabilitated animals all of my life. Currently, I have over 6 animals residing on my property, and before you accuse me of being a cat hoarder - I only have two kittens!

I am Wild Animal Health Care Certified, a Wildlife Conservationist, and also Marine and Eco Tourism Certified. I told you I love animals!

I approach teaching as a creative endeavour and I instill creativity in all of my classes. The more we can expand on being creative, the easier it is to approach different learning opportunities, career choices and even life choices.
