1-2 hours per week. After completing the short story readings, I will challenge the learner with an art project that will show their comprehension of the element of fiction we studied for the week.Assessment
A final selection will be submitted in the last week to show student comprehension of all literary elements and how they work in literature through an art compilation.Progress Report
Students will receive feedback after each art submission on what is working well and what needs more attention or support.Class Experience
US Grade 7 - 10
Intermediate Level
In this class, I have a welcome note for each week that gives instructions in a fun way. I try to keep the students guessing each week on my humor. I provide a lesson walk-through video, highlighting the main concepts of each week's literary element. The slides have been created to be engaging and informative. The lesson slides will also contain the reading selection(s) for each week. After the lesson, there will also be a note, and instructions for an art challenge. Each week's art challenge goes along with the reading from class and I pose a challenging art task for students to show me they understand the literary element in a fun art project. I understand how difficult it can be for students to complete quizzes, essays, and exams. That's not everyone's way of showing comprehension. Artists, this is your chance to sharpen your art-skills saw and show that you understand literature! Students can message me through this platform with any questions at any time. I look forward to seeing some amazing artwork!

Learning Needs
This class is great for students who have a difficult time writing responses to check comprehension. If you like to draw, paint, sculpt, or doodle in some way, this is your chance to show mastery of literary concepts while also creating.
Parental Guidance
Some short stories may contain concepts with murder, haunting, cursing, abuse, and/or death. Please be sure to look at the list of short stories provided in the course description. All short stories have been taught for the age range of 13 and older. Parents can also choose to have an alternate reading assigned for their student for any of the lessons. Open communication is essential to student success. While these stories are classic selections in society, I want to be respectful of your home, culture, and traditions. Some stories are not for everyone, and I support that. I will gladly assign replacements as needed.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
