In this two-day class, students will discover the Fibonacci sequence in the world around them. The initial activity will explore the early life of Fibonacci and his impact on the use of Arabic numbers in Italy and the surrounding areas. Following the initial activity, students will investigate the sequence by recognizing the rule and by determining the next numbers in the sequence. Students will be able to: 1. Recognize the Fibonacci sequence, 2. Generate numbers in the Fibonacci sequence. 3. Identify the rule for the Fibonacci sequence. 4. Explain examples of the Fibonacci sequence in nature, in the ocean, in the market, in art.
Students will participate in a Scavenger Hunt to explore Fibonacci sequence in the world around them.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students progress will be assessed through their class participation.
