Class Experience

Brainstorm and create new poems joyfully inspired by our favorite Winter Holiday items with a teacher who holds a masters in poetry. Includes time for learners to share their own writing.

An easy formula inspires poems and becomes an inquisitive treat for learners to use in their thinking and self-expression in and outside this Outschool experience.

A handful of writing prompts engage young writers by allowing them to
Learn about and practice personification.
Play with visceral topics such as festive lights, holiday meals, and more.
Deepen communication skills.

This class is about developing an understanding of clear writing through personification and communication skills in a respectful and enthusiastic class. It's about appreciating the unique images of the holidays so that our words and ideas shine -- without the rules of writing getting in the way. It's all about unwrapping our way with words through accessible exercises.

Learning Goals

Students will improve their understanding of traits that make for powerful poetry: personification and visceral imagery.
