In this two week class, learners will travel back in time to meet women who worked as spies during the American Civil War. We will cover both the Union and Confederate Army's use of espionage.

Class Experience
Learners will understanding the methods of spying used during the American Civil War. Learners will be able to identify women who spied for both the Union and Confederate Armies during the American Civil War. Learners will discuss the role of women as spies during the American Civil War.
Bachelor's Degree in History Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education Master's Degree in Education Twelve years experience teaching Social Studies in a public school Teaching Certification in Social Studies grades 6-12 Course work in Gifted Education from UC Berkeley at Irvine Museum Studies courses from Johns Hopkins University

At the end of the class, learners will complete a teacher created scavenger hunt that reviews the main content of the class.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
The class will discuss the American Civil War and topics related to war. Time period content contains information on people who were denied equal freedoms including women and people of color.
