Students will read & discuss feline folklore in this one-time class, including folk stories, fairy tales, myths, legends, & fables, featuring cats.
Class experience
US Grade 5 - 8
In this class, students will be taught about cats featured in folklore across different cultures and time periods. We will cover several stories of felines in folklore, including Puss in Boots, the Yule Cat, The King of Cats, and The Cat and the Crab. We will make connections between the stories and also compare & contrast differing views of cats throughout the world. Students will improve their understanding of folklore through the reading & discussion of folk stories, fairy tales, fables, myths, and legends about felines.
I have taught mythology & folklore classes as a public school teacher, home educator, and homeschool co-op teacher. I have taken several online courses in the areas of mythology & folklore. I have an extensive personal library of books about mythology & folklore. I truly enjoy these subjects and have a desire to help others enjoy them, too. Also, I have a cat who is the inspiration for this particular class.
