What's included
1 live meeting
1 in-class hours per weekClass Experience
Each week, the class will begin with a short greeting and introduction. Then one learner at a time will have a turn to be the reader and read a creative writing piece (1000 word limit so that there is time to listen and give feedback). At this time the reader can state if they are looking for specific (ie-character development, grammar, storyline, etc) or general feedback and suggestions. All other learners will remain quiet and assume their roles as listeners when not reading. Listeners are encouraged to jot down notes while they are listening so they do not forget what feedback and suggestions they want to give the reader. After the first learner reads, all listeners and the teacher will provide feedback and suggestions to that reader on the creative writing piece they just read. Then the next learner will have their turn to become the reader. This process will continue until all learners have had a chance to read. All readers will be given equal time to read and receive feedback. The class will follow the same format from week to week. Students may join at any time. The classes are independent of each other and do not build on previous classes.
Learning Goals
Students will develop their ability to give positive feedback after listening to others read their creative writing pieces.
Students will improve their writing capabilities based on implementing feedback suggestions.
