Fearless Research Writing will cover the writing process from the beginning to end. Students can bring a current research writing assignment to class or choose a topic that they are interested in. If the learner does not have a current writing assignment they will be asked to pick a topic of interest and write a 2-3 page research paper. Your learner will have opportunity to submit work for review and feedback through the course. As writing is a process, the class will meet once a week...
Research writing can be very overwhelming and often times creates anxiety. This class teaches learners how plan for the process and complete the process of research writing. When students learn the process and know what is expected of researching writing the experience is both more rewarding and less stressful for the learner.
Students have the opportunity to write a paper as we progress, this is optional. However, for students to take full advantage of the class a short 2-3 page research paper is encouraged. This will require roughly 1-2 hours per week. Students are encouraged to submit work weekly for evaluation, progress, and to keep the student on track. Both parent and student will be receive the weekly feedback.
Access to research materials such as books or internet, access to Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or similar program.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Learners will receive a written report at the end of the course. This will show strengths as well as suggestions to continue to grow the research writing skills.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
