Fractions are all around us! In this one-time class, we will learn about fractions: what they are, how to make them, and how to use them. This class does not explain how to do arithmetic with fractions. At the beginning of class, I will show examples of different fractions by sharing my screen. Using the measuring cups and small objects such as cereal, macaroni, rice, candies, etc, the kids and I will measure thirds, fourths, and halves so that they can see what 1/4 cup looks like and how many 1/4 cups are in 1 cup, etc. The kids will also fold paper into different fractions to view them differently. We will also discuss other ways we use fractions in everyday life. The kids will be able to interact with me and each other during class by sharing and asking questions. Supplies are listed in the supply list below. *****FRIENDS AND SIBLINGS********* Each learner must be enrolled in the class to be fair to the other enrolled learners.
