In this book club, we will be discussing books that are consistently chosen as favorites across all my book clubs. These 5 books will be well-liked by most and will spur on an engaging discussion for the students. In this highly interactive class, students will meet to discuss a set of contemporary, engaging literature. Students will come to the book club eager to discuss the novel and are expected to have their cameras on and be ready to actively participate in the discussion. Each student will have the opportunity to answer discussion questions and share their thoughts with the group. Teaching in a conversational manner, I will be fostering a love for books. Students in the class will be asked to think about what they read, form an opinion on what they read, and then share that opinion with others. We will also have fun rating and reviewing each book and comparing them to past reads. Students with a wide array of previous book club experiences are welcome. They only need to be open to exploring and discussing the materials and their themes. The books we will be reading and discussing are: Week 1 - Concealed by Christina Diaz Gonzalez Week 2 - The Secret Deep by Lindsay Gavin Week 3 - It's the End of the World as I Know It by Mathew Landis Week 4 - Murder Is Bad Manners by Robin Stevens Week 5 - Ryan Quinn and the Rebel's Escape by Ron McGee We need a minimum of 4 students for this book club to run, so don't purchase the books until we are sure it will run. Please look up the books prior to enrolling your student to make sure the choices will be a good match for your student and your family.
Learning Goals
Students will become more engaged and critical readers.
