Class Experience

Students will learn basic color theory and a floral technique called wiring and taping, both of which can be applied not only to faux blooms but to some projects featuring fresh flowers.
Between the first and second classes, students will shop for the supplies they need for the project, applying the color theory principles discussed during the first class. They will also prepare their blooms for assembly into a circlet.
For this project, students will need two to three bunches of faux flowers, 4 - 6 chenille stems (also called pipe cleaners), one roll of green floral tape, one package or paddle of thin, flexible floral wire, and small amounts of beads, pearls, or gems. These items are available at many dollar stores. They will also need a pair of wire cutters or sturdy scissors capable of cutting the floral wire.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
