Tie-Dye is a huge trend that has made a come back, especially in the last year! This is a 4-week class, where each week we will talk about a specific tie-dying technique and learn how to render them using markers and colored pencils. In class, we will draw and render a look together but students are encouraged to design their own looks (or even try to actually tie-dye a t-shirt) for homework and present it in our next class. Topics: Week 1: Ombre Tie Dye Week 2: Spiral Tie Dye Week 3: Crumple Tie Dye Week 4: Shibori Tie Dye To achieve the best results, I highly recommend having markers for this class especially ones similar to the link below. I bought this set of 40 markers on Amazon for around $14 and they work great for fashion rendering! Students will also need colored pencils. Please see supply section for a full list. Learning Goals
Students will:
- learn about the various tie-dying techniques and how to render them
- learn where to use them in garments when it comes to designing
- understand the relationship between garments and the body; how they interact
- develop their own style of drawing & gain confidence through practice
