I am a trained artist and visual storyteller and bring historic artefacts into my art making and designs. I taught film at university and know the film industry as a costume designer, production manager and screen writer. I am fascinated by royal myths and legends and spend many weekends exploring London's hidden corners and cultural landmarks. I have invented several imagined worlds complete with costumes for kings, queens and magical beings. I am also a qualified schoolteacher and teach English, German and French, as well as media studies, fostering a curiosity about different cultures and ways of life. I encourage students to draw costumes and sets based on a combination of their experience of stories, history and their own free imagination.
You will receive a template with two fashion figure to print out before class. If your child is a speedy drawer you can print out more. You need either my template or an A4 sketchbook to draw your own figure. ** If you do NOT know how to draw a figure or do NOT have a printer please message me in advance. I will not be teaching figure drawing skills in this class. I can point you to resources to help you draw your own fashion figure (croquis) in advance of the class. Pencil and eraser are essential, then choose your favourite colour medium: - colouring pencils - markers - water colours - glitter, glue or interesting wrapping paper to cut into shapes
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
