Class Experience

In the beginning of this course we will be exploring the different style icons from each era (20's, 70's, 80's, 90's, etc). Our first project will tap into those trends and create a mood board of everything we like. Things that make us, us!

Than we'll take a look in to our own closets. We'll organize and sectionalize an easier way to get dressed in the morning that's visually appealing and see how we can create multiple looks from one garment.

We'll also learn how to write. We'll create story lines for our mood boards and how to create social media posts that are engaging. This is useful for future jobs of working in social media and editorial in the fashion industry! We'll learn specific ways to verbalize captions, changing images in to stories, and engaging an audience to transition from browser to consumer.

In the following weeks we'll create our own mood board from our very own clothes. We'll learn how to take lay down pictures for social media and how to create our own runway look and make our very own mashup video as a final class project!

My teaching style is very interactive. Each student will get one on one attention from me and will be able to ask questions while also learning from their peers in this course. There is no prior experience necessary. "Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak".

Learning Goals

Students will explore their creativity in this course! They will learn to maximize their ideas with minimal materials. How to create media content that is important to know and vital for the future if they either want to work in fashion or just want to learn a little bit more about the industry. They will learn how to mix and match colors and patterns and feel good in their skin while looking and feeling their best.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Although most of my other courses are focused on my dance background, I've been working in the fashion industry for 10 years now and have explored different areas of the field. From working with a designer, stylist, wholesale brand, boutique, website and custom clothing brand. I've explored many different facets of the industry. I've worked 3 New York Fashion Weeks and ran my own personal blog as well as a store blog and social media account for 4 plus years. I know as I kid I dreamed of working in the industry from the age of 10 and would have loved to have had a higher influence that could have helped me along the way.
