In this one-time course, students will use the lens of feminism to learn and critically think about Coco Chanel and her influence on women's fashion.
Class experience
In this class, fashion and feminism collide once again as we explore how Coco Chanel used her influence to help women fight for the right to wear pants. Today, wearing a pair of jeans is as normal for women as wearing a shirt, but it wasn't always this way. This class will begin as a lecture but will allow for discussion throughout. Students will begin by learning about who Coco Chanel was and why she was such an important figure in pushing for women's rights. We will then discuss why the...
