Animal science helps students explore and learn about animals and how each has unique qualities. We will learn about anatomy of different species, diets, digestion, care needed and so much more! This class is a self-paced course meaning we will not meet live together. Instead each lesson will have a video along with worksheets and a link to a corresponding Kahoot game for that lessons animal. Week 1Lesson 1Learn About GoatsThis lesson we will cover different uses for goats on a farm, how goats digestion is different than ours, learning the anatomy of a goat, what different breeds of goats are and more.Week 2Lesson 2Learn About ChickensIn this lesson we will learn the anatomy of a chicken, how their digestion is unique, how chicks develop, different uses for chickens on farms, different breeds of chickens, basic care and how chicks are hatched.Week 3Lesson 3Learn About PigsWe will learn about commercial feeds, basic care, anatomy and more!Week 4Lesson 4Learn About BunniesWe will finish up with learning about the anatomy of rabbits, the shape and function of their teeth, different uses for rabbits on farms, how their digestive tract is unique, basic care for rabbits and more!
I have lived on a small farm and been raising goats for over 9 years now. I also teach youth at our local 4H groups about different livestock and agriculture for the last 7 years.
Homework Offered
Students will need to watch the video for each lesson and fill out the worksheets during the lesson. After the video students will need to complete the Kahoot quiz. Students are encouraged to share pictures of their work.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class

As we are discussing animals in a farm setting there will be discussion about animals being butchered for food. This will not be an in-depth conversation but using animals for meat will be part of some of the weeks.
