In this one-time drawing course, students will learn how to sketch a realistic portrait of a lamb laying down (full body). What will students learn? 1. 1. Students will learn techniques for sketching a proportionate contour drawing (outline) of a lamb. 2. Students will learn techniques for smooth blending, pencil application, gradient blending, and adding contrast. 3. Students will learn techniques for sketching a realistic full body portrait of a lamb laying on the ground. 4. Students will learn techniques for sketching realistic curly wool. 4. Students will learn a few facts about sheep.
If students do not finish their sketches in class, I encourage them to finish outside of the scheduled class time.
1 file available upon enrollmentREQUIRED FOR STUDENTS: -Paper (Preferably drawing paper, but if you do not have this, regular paper is fine.) -Pencil -Regular everyday eraser (new pencil top erasers work best) -Pencil sharpener -A printed or electronic copy of the animal reference photo we will sketch (available upon enrollment, found in the welcome post as a PDF in the classroom tab when you scroll all the way to the bottom of the page) -Blending tool (We will practice blending skills a lot in these classes. If you do not have blending stumps, please bring a tissue and/or a Q-Tip. If you are unable to get these supplies, students are fine to use their fingers to blend.) WHAT THE TEACHER WILL BE USING (OPTIONAL): -Drawing paper OR Sketchbook (You can purchase a sketchbook for around $10 on Amazon.) -Wooden pencil -Pencil sharpener -Kneaded eraser (You can purchase a kneaded eraser for around $5 on Amazon.) -Regular everyday eraser -Drawing pencils (You can purchase drawing pencils for around $10 on Amazon.) -White gel pen
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will be assessed throughout class and at the end of class through questions and/or sharing of drawings.
1 hour 20 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
