Class experience
Come learn fantasy and science fiction writing from a published author! Miss Jaime has published numerous books and loves teaching the next generation! Each class Miss Jaime will write a 'bad writing' example and go over it with the students to learn how to improve their storytelling, and written style/structure. (approx. 15 min instruction) This is *not* a grammar class, so spelling, basic punctuation and sentence structure will not be addressed unless egregious-- so come for fun! Once...
Students will gain valuable insight into how fantasy and science fiction writing differs from other creative writing styles, be able to brainstorm ideas, learn worldbuilding, character development, how to describe fantasy beasts and castles, plus much more!
I've been a fantasy artist for decades, and a professional private fine art teacher for over 25+ years. I have a BFA in Fine Art with a focus in studio art painting, and I am a multi-published fantasy novelist with two different publishing houses. I've run years of summer camp programs for fantasy art and writing courses.
Something to write on, paper and pen/pencil, or ability to work on their laptop/tablet while staying logged into Outschool.
While I do encourage students to express themselves, and never wish to stifle creativity, students will be asked to refrain from any explicitly graphic or scary imagery, nudity, adult content, etc. General fight scenes, magic, romantic overtones and 'subtle horror' will be allowed, and can be used as writing prompts. Please speak with your child ahead of time to make certain they are aware of what's OKAY to share in a classroom setting and what's best to be kept for private work. These rules will also be covered during class time.
