How Outschool Works
There are no open spots for this class, but you can request another time or scroll down to find more classes like this.
This class is designed to help learners create a Fantasy world in which to write stories in, play D&D campaigns in, or have for other fun purposes. We will draw maps, use mapmaking software like Inkarnate (free version) or Wonderdraft (one time payment of $29.99 if that is the map maker you want to use.) create bestiaries and fantasy races, economies and more. There is a writing component to this class as detailed background information will be written out about races, beasts, etc. Week 1:...
Under the pen name of Cleave Bourbon, I have completed and published 9 fantasy novels and I have three more in development. I have been teaching English in both public high school (English 1-4) and online for over 15 years. I have also earned a B.A in English and Culture and a M.A. in English and Literature.
This class will contain quite a bit of writing both in class and outside of class.
Pencils, paper for map drawing.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
In order to use the free map making software, Inkarnate, a parent will have to sign up to log in unless the learner is 13 years of age or older. Inkarnate also has a subscription based model but the free version is fine for the class. In order to use the map making software, Wonderdraft, a parent will have to purchase the software for $29.99. The free version of Inkarnate is fine to use in the class and Wonderdraft is completely optional.
We will use the free software Inkarnate for a few of the classes. Wonderdraft is also a great map making software but it costs $29.99 one time to own it. I am not affiliated with either software.
