Description
Class Experience
Students will learn a variety of techniques for devising original theater, practice collaboration and teamwork, and develop skills as writers, actors, movers, and choreographers.
I spent a year training under the artistic director of Voices of Now, the devised theater for social change program at Arena Stage, and I co-directed four student ensembles. I wrote my bachelor's thesis on devised theater, which included directing a new devised play.
Students will be expected to spend about 10 minutes each day responding to a writing or drawing prompt outside class and will need to share their work with me before the following class.
- A way to write or type during and outside of class - Materials for drawing/creating 2-D art - On day 3, learners will need a piece of fabric that they can move through the air (a scarf, pillowcase, napkin, etc.)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
5 hours per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
The learners in this camp will write the material for our play, and I will compile it into a script. If you have any specific concerns about content, please reach out to me privately.
