Class Experience

This class is taught in English.
The goal is to gain a further understanding of fantasy writing and to apply it to their own work. As this is a 12-week class a student can finish crafting a novel within that three-month time, if they should so choose. I will happily sit down in a one-on-one meeting between students and their parents to discuss publishing options.
I am a published young adult author who loves to share my knowledge with others. I have been working with younger individuals for 20 years. My goal is to guide my students closer to finishing stories and one day becoming published. I offer one-on-one feedback to any students who send material to me.
Out-of-class Help: In this class, there is only one form of 'homework': Write. Students may write about whatever topic they would like and however much they are able to write during the week. At any time the student can reach out to me to ask for writing prompts, picture prompts, music prompts, help with character development, dialogue, etc. (I can provide a week worth of prompts if the student would like.) I am also happy to help the students to come up with a writing schedule based on their personal schedules. Together we can come up with writing goals (including publishing) and work out a game plan on how they can obtain those goals. This is done through private messaging. I am always happy to read students' work and help them.
Students will need a notebook and pencils OR something they can type in.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
