Over 5 days, we will look at the different elements of fantasy story writing, and begin writing our very own story. We will create vivid characters, exciting plots, amazing settings, and adventurous atmospheres, all with techniques and skills writers have used throughout time. Each day, students will be given a brief interactive lesson on an area of fantasy writing, will spend part of the session writing, and between sessions, will continue to write and read other students' work. By the end of this camp, students will have a well-planned, exciting story, will have begun writing it up, and will be so motivated and enthusiastic to continue writing it, that you never know, we might have the beginnings of the next best-seller! If you enjoy writing, and love fantasy and adventure stories, then this camp is the place for you! The camp will run as follows: Day One: Fantasy worlds - world building and creating a setting Day Two: Characters - creating a main character Day Three: Plotting it out, from beginning to end Day Four: How to create the right atmosphere Day Five: Fantasy baddies - creating antagonists Each 55 minute session will involve a warm up task, short writing tasks, discussion, sharing our ideas, and some instruction on story writing techniques. Between sessions, and in the weeks after the camp, students may submit their stories on the classroom and receive feedback from me, and from other learners.

I'm a qualified teacher, experienced in teaching English, History, Music, and Art. I home educated my two children, who are now at university, and I have taught in mainstream schools, and in Special-Ed schools.
I have also taught piano, guitar, singing, and music theory, taking students through grade examinations.
I am experienced in teaching the British GCSEs, and through home-schooling, I taught my own children using American curriculum. I teach Language Arts, English Literature and Language, Creative Writing, Poetry - both writing, and reading, and many other fantastic and interesting topics.
I teach writing skills using the Writing Revolution techniques, and have seen students improve their writing skills rapidly using some of the techniques applied.
In addition, I worked as a graphic designer for 10 years, working from home, and offer graphic design and video editing classes, using Adobe Creative Suite, DaVinci Resolve, and soon, Affinity creative suite.
Growth Mindset is very important in my classes, and I encourage it in all learners - Growth Mindset is the belief that even if you can't do something or don't understand something, then you CAN learn how to do it or understand it. Growth Mindset says "I can't do it YET, but I can learn." Learning happens through making mistakes, and then modifying your approach, changing what you do, to improve.
