Class Experience
In this multi-day class, we will read and discuss the novel Fantastic Mr. Fox by Roald Dahl. Due to copyright law, we cannot read aloud during class. Students need to read independently before class. Students can read a physical book, digital book, or listen to the audiobook. Many students benefit from listening to the audiobook while reading along with book. Do what is best for your child. This class will be taught with Canva presentation slides, lecture, and group discussion. During...
This class is taught in English.
I’m a licensed teacher for K-12. I have a Master’s in Teaching. I've been teaching for 10 years.
Students will need to read the book outside of class. Fantastic Mr. Fox is a fairly short book. The audiobook is appropriately 1 hour long. The whole book is 96 pages. Students shouldn’t need to spend more than 1-2 hours reading outside of class. Please let me know if your child needs extra support with reading outside of class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Some violence. Guns are mentioned. Mr. Fox’s tail is shot off. The fox family is worried about starving. Mr. Fox and other animals steal food and justify stealing because it is for their family. We will talk about why stealing is wrong in our discussion.
