Description
Class Experience
This class is all about fairy tales and fables! We will learn about the elements of fairy tales and the elements of fables. Each week will focus on a different fairy tale. The first class of the week we will read the original story. During the second class of the week, we will read a fractured (altered) version of the original story. These are really silly and a lot of fun! After each story, we will fill out a story map, discuss the characters, setting, problem and solution, and then compare...
Students will learn the elements of fairy tales and fables and work on identifying them in the stories we read. Students will learn about 8 different stories, and work on identifying literacy elements (character, setting, problem, solution) as well as practice retelling skills. At the end of the course, students will utilize brainstorming and writing skills as we all work together to develop a class fairy tale! We will also briefly discuss how to make detailed illustrations while we work on our fairy tale.
Students may have to finish filling out their workbook after class (after discussions) depending on time. Students may need some time to finish their illustration as well if they don't finish it in class.
