Class Experience

"Enchante!" (That's French for "Pleased to meet you!")

I hope you join me for tea and a read-aloud in this one-time class. Bring your favorite drink in your favorite cup, whatever you "fancy!" You are welcomed to wear your fanciest, fun clothes to class too! Teacher will also dress up and bring her tea cup! We will read "Fancy Nancy: Budding Ballerina" by Jane O'Connor and explore vocabulary words and antonyms! We will make note of certain words throughout the reading, then go back and expand on them through discussion and pictures. Finally, we will do a drawing/storytelling activity to further explore antonyms. Students should bring a pencil and paper to class. Coloring materials is optional.

Class structure:
- Introduction of the class and each other
- Read aloud with engagement opportunities throughout the reading
- Take note of new vocabulary words (a copy of the words - along with pictures - will be sent out after class!)
- Discussion and activity on antonyms
- Drawing/storytelling activity

With "tea time read aloud," children get to listen to good stories about family, friendship, character building, and the world around them which is true with Fancy Nancy books! They also learn vocabulary words and storytelling, and are welcomed to dress up and have tea! In this class, no prior knowledge of Fancy Nancy books is required, nor any reading or writing skills. Come with open ears and a heart for learning!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Thank you for stopping by! My name is Maipacher (my-pa-chur) but you can call me Ms. Pacher.

You can expect writing/English classes and other creative pop up classes from me! If there is a specific class you would like to request, please feel free to reach out!

Here is a little background about me: I have a degree in English and have always loved writing and poetry. As a child, I would copy library books, scribble on everything I could, and memorize lines that I loved. Storytelling was what I cherished! Into adulthood, I wrote short stories, got my degree, became a poet and spoken word artist. I have performed in various community events, became an English as a Second Language (ESL) virtual teacher to young children ages 4-16 for over four years, became TESOL certified, and tutored English and writing for two years prior to that. Now, I homeschool my own grade school children!

I believe that learning should be an engaging and insightful experience! I strive to show my children a love for learning and the amazing things that can happen when you dive into your interests, passions, and gifts.

I hope to see you in the classroom!
