In this one-time class, students will be able dress up, enjoy a story time about Fancy Nancy, learn how to use new "fancy" vocabulary in daily conversation, and be inspired to create their own artwork.

Students will be introduced to new "fancy" vocabulary words and be given opportunities to extend their language comprehension by listening to the teacher during a Fancy Nancy story time. While reading, the teacher will guide discussion and ask comprehension questions to check for student understanding if the story and new vocabulary. Multiple opportunities will be given for each student to participate verbally, both as a group and individually. After the story time, the teacher will choose...
Students will improve their understanding of new vocabulary words and increase their confidence with using new words in sentences and conversations.
No supplies are required, but students may bring any art supplies they want to use during class to create their own artwork (paper, pencil, crayons, markers, stickers, scissors, glue, etc.). Students may also wear "fancy" clothes to class if they want to dress up like Fancy Nancy.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
We will be inspired by the book Fancy Nancy: Aspiring Artist by Jane O'Connor and Robin Preiss Glasser.
